Professor Douglas Bruster teaches for the Department of English at the University of Texas at Austin. When he was fourteen he got hooked on Shakespeare’s words, and feels lucky that he is able to investigate them, and to talk with students about them, for a living. In the classroom, he regularly teaches Shakespeare, as well as figures from Geoffrey Chaucer through Alfred Hitchcock. Outside the classroom, he is the father of two teenagers and the appointed walking companion of a German Shepherd dog. Sometimes he wonders why his teenagers don’t help out more around the house.
